I have been a musician since the age of 12. I learned music via formal music classes and band at school and college, as well as through private instruction. I was first a percussionist and pianist, taught percussion by a former member of a Marine Corps marching band and piano by myself. After being a percussionist and pianist for 4 years, I picked up the bass, electric, and acoustic guitars at age 16. I know every major/minor key signature, including minor harmonic and minor melodic scales. However, other than the pentatonic box scale, I know no guitar specific scales. Also, I am very well versed in many different time signatures, including the odd time signatures such as 9/8, 7/8, 5/8, etc.
However, what really bothers me is that, regardless of all this, all my written music sounds practically the same, at least to me. I feel restricted by my knowledge of music. I am extremely intelligent and love academic subjects that are remotely similar to math, including physics and chemistry. I feel like, due to this, that I am solely computational. I believe that I may be thinking to much about key signatures, time signatures, and sticking to them. I can’t allow myself to go outside the “boundaries”. For example, when I site down to play guitar after warming up, I will pick a specific key signature and play around with different notational combinations, chords, chord progressions, etc. within that key signature so that maybe I can run across a good song idea. The problem is that, no matter what key signature I choose, all my playing has started to run together over the years. Everything has started to sound identical. I feel as though my computational and analytical nature is catching up to me and freezing me in old habits, so to speak.

As a writing exercise, I am writing descriptions of odors / smells for different items, like how a campfire smells, or how macaroni smells while it is being cooked. One item is to write a description of how genitals smell without using the word “fishy” and without any obscene words.
Please be serious. Don’t use lewd, obscene, or gross words please. This is for a college-level English creative writing class focusing on how to use descriptive words to describe something from the 5 senses, in this assignment the sense of smell. I also have to describe the smell of excrement, believe it or not. I think I signed up for the wrong class–LOL.

Looking for ways to get the writing juices flowing? Try one of these techniques the next time you find yourself staring blankly at the computer screen while beginning an essay or composing an email.
Listing Facts. When you know the topic you’re writing about but can’t find a way to begin putting them together, try listing the items you know about it one by one. Afterwards, go through the list and pick out items that you can use in your beginning paragraph. When you find yourself stuck later on, you can even refer to the same list to bring some ideas your way.

Hello,
I’ve found that an internship is available at a film studio close to where I live. Seeing as that film is going to be my career choice, I’ve decided that it would be a great way to learn how things operate. There’s one small problem, the internship pamphlet requires an interest letter and a resume.
I’ve already finished my interest letter, yet I can’t seem to manage a good resume. I’m completely stuck.

Hello!
I have to read a book, of choice, for English at school. So I chose New Moon. And I have to write an essay comparing Edward Cullen to that of an old fashioned vampire. And write about how Edward can feel emotions and explain how he is different. Not your typical vampire. And then I have to compare the style of writing to that of an old fashioned technique. Like Stephanie Myer compared to another author who wrote a vampire based novel. I was wondering if anyone could give me some notes about New Moon or some help with the essay in general. I have read the book, but when it comes to writing essays, i suck at it.
Much appriciated! (:
